How to Work with Me

Prenatal consultation (Insurance/Self pay)
In a perfect world, we’d select our support system before challenges arise! Scheduling a prenatal consultation gives us an opportunity to get to know each other, help define your feeding goals, learn basics of lactation and what to expect in the first days postpartum. We will review your medical history as it pertains to milk production and I can help you select a breast pump. Once we’ve established a relationship, you can check that off your to-do list. I’ll be just a text or phone call away once baby arrives!

Lactation Home Visit (Insurance/Self Pay)
A home visit is scheduled in the comfort and privacy of your own home. These can be scheduled any time in the postpartum period, whether shortly after birthing and until you are prepared to wean. A full medical history will be taken for both you and your baby. We will discuss your feeding goals, both short and long term. I will conduct a full functional oral assessment of your baby, evaluating tongue function, suckling, and latch at the breast. I bring an infant scale for weight checks and pre and post weight feeds that allow us to determine how much milk your baby can transfer from your breast. Other topics can include proper breast pump fit and usage, how to introduce a bottle, when to start solids, creating a return to work plan, and how to safely wean. A personalized care plan is developed and you have access to me for text and phone support.

Follow up visits (Insurance/Self Pay)
Continued education and support; defining your success and assessing your progress; weight checks and weighted feeds, introducing a bottle, monitoring milk production and supply, revision of care plan as needed.

Telehealth Visits (Insurance/Self pay)
Telehealth visits are often covered by insurance plans and can offer flexibility. These work well for prenatal consultations, bottle refusal, breast pump questions, starting solids, and returning to work discussions.
“Erica was monumental in my breastfeeding journey. I was having lots of pain while nursing for the first 2.5 months of my daughter’s life. I had multiple professionals tell me she didn’t have a tongue tie or any tightness, and I kept thinking it would get better but it never did. Finally I contacted Erica for another opinion, and she referred me to a pediatric dentist who was able to diagnose my daughter’s tongue tie and do the procedure in one visit. Erica provided so much support throughout the process and was very open with her communication. She saw me consistently and encouraged me so much. Now my daughter nurses successfully with no pain! Erica also has supported me in my transition back to work, and I seriously don’t think I’d still be breastfeeding without her. I am beyond thankful and I would recommend her to anyone!”—MB
